Billy Lee Barnes, 82, of Logansport, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Logansport.

Born on July 30, 1932 in Delphi, Indiana, he was the son of the late Harold W. and Linnie E. (Ireland) Barnes.  On August 21, 1982 in Lockport, Indiana he married Patricia Marie VanLaarhoven who survives. Billy was his wife’s everything and she was his baby.

Billy was a retired grinder operator for Midwest Spring Company. He was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Logansport. Billy was a farmer who enjoyed horses and building model railroads.  Billy and his wife were very active in volunteering in their church and at Chase Center. Billy went to Headquarters, (meaning Hardee’s)  every Thursday and had a good time with his Nazarene friends.

Surviving along with his wife Patricia are two daughters, Cheryl Sanson, Royal Center; Angela Cooksey, Kokomo; two sons, Jeff Barnes, Tennessee; Brian Barnes, Kokomo; step daughter, Sandra O'Neill, Monticello; two step sons, Steven (Bonnie) Lawson, Star City; Edward  (Lee) Lawson, South Bend; his verbally adopted daughter, Jerry Hamilton, Logansport; fourteen grandchildren, Cherie (Michael) Williams; Peggy (Bobby) Campbell; Harmony Westbrook and companion Charles; Andrew (Julie) Plumb; Trista (Kevin) Price; Steven Lawson Jr. and Companion David; Cathy Feeney; Tracy (Aaron) Griffith; Kayla (Jack) Thompson; Pamela Barnes; Dustin Barnes; Chucky Barnes; Joshua and Kara; and many great grandchildren .

He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, and a son in law, Edwin Sanson.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Blake Hall officiating.  Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
