Helen Grandstaff

Helen J. Grandstaff, 80, of Logansport, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at Aperion Care of Kokomo.

Born on September 24, 1933 in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Irene (Zimmerman) Cotner. In 1958 Helen married Timothy F. Leahy who preceded her in death and then on March 23, 1972 in Logansport, she married John Jacob Grandstaff who preceded her in death on October 10, 1988.

Helen was a retired home health care provider. She enjoyed going to church, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Surviving her is one daughter, Penny Irene (Vernon) Hozey, Kokomo; two sons, George Leahy and Kathy; Anthony Jacob (Jamie) Grandstaff, all of Logansport; brother, David (Linda) Sturgeon, Galveston; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Milo Sturgeon, two brothers, George and John Sturgeon, and one sister, Jenny Hulsizer.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Sommers officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, September 15, 2014, also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
