John David Hardin, 85 of Logansport, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 in his residence.

Born on December 22, 1931 in Gary, Indiana, he was the son of the late John David and Louise A. (Bohannon) Hardin.  On August 24, 1958 in Logansport he married Janet S. Fellers who preceded in death on August 7, 2007.

John was a retired Conductor from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He was a United Stated Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60. John enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Cubs.

Surviving are two sons, David W. (Vickie) Hardin; Richard L. (Tammi) Hardin, both of Logansport; grandchildren, Richelle Hardin, Logansport; Mitchell L. (Christina) Hardin, Texas; step grandchildren, Randy Alcorn, San Diego, CA; Megan (Ryan) Jones, Logansport; great grandchildren, Hope and Euriah Baker, Logansport; M.J. Hardin and Maya, Bastrop Texas; Rylan Jones, Keeley Jones, both of Logansport; nephew, Butch Hardin, Warsaw; nieces, Sherry Rahe, Anderson, IN; Jeri Lynn Mayhew, Fort Wayne, IN.

He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Hardin; a brother, Robert William Hardin; a sister, Marilyn Virginia Mayhew; and a nephew, Anthony Michael Hardin.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Gross officiating. Burial with full Military Graveside Rites will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to any charity benefiting United States Veterans.
