Don Robert Schlegelmilch, 61, of Galveston, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.

Don was born on November 10, 1955 and was the son to the late Robert S. and Elizabeth Ann (Ross) Schlegelmilch. On June 28, 1980 in Cass County, Indiana he married Karen S. Caldwell who survives.

Don was a 1974 graduate of Lewis Cass High School, he then graduated from Purdue University in 1979. For several years, Don worked as a financial advisor for Sycamore Financial in Kokomo. He was a member of the Walton Christian Church, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and active in the Lewis Cass FFA, Cass County 4-H. Don enjoyed following Purdue and tailgating before the games with family and friends. He also enjoyed helping his children and children from the children’s home show their livestock at 4-H . He was always attending his children’s sporting events and enjoyed spending time with family.

Surviving along with his wife Karen is a daughter, Kelsey B. (Travis) Stephens, Galveston; two sons, Evan R. (Jennifer) Schlegelmilch, Houston, TX; Braden W. Schlegelmilch, Indianapolis; brother, Dan (Michele) Schlegelmilch, Zionsville; four sisters, Bethanne (Jim) York, Peru; Annette (Larry) Phipps; Carol Rush; Dianne Schlegelmilch, all of Walton; a grandson, J.J. Robert Schlegelmilch; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Steven Rush.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Walton Christian Church, 101 W. Bishop Street in Walton, IN with Pastor William A. Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 also in the Walton Christian Church. There will also be an additional hour of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the Cass County 4-H or Walton Christian Church.
