Howard Smith

Howard D. Smith, 78, of Kewanna, passed away at 12:04 pm Tuesday June 19, 2018 in the emergency room of Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born November 25, 1939 in Fulton County, IN to the late John H. and Golda E. (Kirk) Smith. On August 23, 1959 in Grass Creek, IN he married Darlene Christopher who survives.

Other survivors include three sons, John (Lisa) Smith, Kewanna; Chris (Tonya) Smith, Logansport; William (Carrie) Smith, Kewanna; eight grandchildren, Abbie Smith, Morgan Smith, Kyle (Brooke) Smith, Kevin (Aubrey) Smith, Kody Smith, Angel Smith, Brayle Smith and Kia Smith; eleven great grandchildren, Rylan Toro, Kendall Smith, Brielle Smith, Addison Kennell, Elizabeth Kennell, Gabby Smith, Haydn Konopasek, Coltyn Konopasek, Westyn Konopasek, Carrissa Keene and Zack Ruby; one sister, Jean Ann (Gene) Davis, Rochester.

Howard was a former fuel delivery man for Frushour Oil Company in Lucerne and later for Tom’s LP. He also farmed with his dad and did vehicle repairs and body work in his garage in Marshtown. He was known for doing an occasional hog roast. Howard enjoyed his golf, fishing, a trip to see the goats, gardening, an occasional euchre game and spending his winters in Florida. He left this world the way he lived his life, a Mr. busy body and a man that always had to be doing something.

A celebration of life gathering of friends and family will be held from 1 – 5 pm Saturday June 23, 2018 in the Gundrum Funeral Home. A private graveside service and burial will be held in the Fulton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Animal Adoption & Education Center or Cass County Humane Society.
