LeRoy Powell, 90, of Logansport, passed away Sunday Nov. 18, 2018 in White Oak Health Campus of Monticello.
Born January 29, 1928 in Powell County, Kentucky he was the son to the late William and Lena (Brandenburg) Powell. On July 5, 1947 in Rockfield, IN he married Ione Garrison who preceded in death on January 19, 2006.
LeRoy retired from Conrail after 45 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, longtime member of River of Life Christian Church, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, American Legion Post #60 and V.F.W. Post #3790. LeRoy enjoyed bowling, golf, watching the Chicago Cubs, fishing and spending most of his time outdoors.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Ellen Long and Sue Ann (William) Lewis, both of Logansport; one son, Kenneth Lee (Karen) Powell, Minnetonka, MN; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
One great grandson, Brandon Lewis, three brothers and four sisters have preceded in death.
A celebration of life will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Gundrum Funeral Home. Burial with full Military Rites will be at Paint Creek Cemetery near Camden.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
