Pamela Colsten

Pamela A. Colsten passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20th, in Kokomo.

Born July 7, 1955, Pam was the daughter of Rex Adkins and Tamar Minter.  Pam was a 1973 graduate of Logansport High School, where she enjoyed doing make-up for the high school’s theatrical productions.  Pam would go on to bring three children into the world and devote much of her life to raising her children.  Pam’s life was not without ambition though, and whilst raising three children, Pam obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Ball State University. Pam was a skilled knitter and used her skills to bless those around her.  Pam loved to play Tetris on the GameBoy, and she seldom drank anything other than tea or Diet Dr.Pepper.  Personally, Pam was as predictable as she was unpredictable (and sometimes she made about as much sense as that sentence…but just like that sentence, she put a smile on your face.)  Professionally, Pam worked numerous jobs over the years, but more than anything, she loved to help others.  Pam’s jobs always resulted in positive impact on those around her.  Even when physical disability kept her from working, Pam still insisted on volunteering her time and efforts to her church, her friends, her family, and her community.  Pam’s success was measured in how deeply she loved and how genuinely she cared.  Pam suffered from both physical and mental illnesses, and despite the illnesses slowly taking control of her life, she never gave up, never stopped fighting; and was stubborn and strong until the end.  The things that Pam overcame daily would make the strongest of men crumble. Pam was a special woman, and she will be dearly missed.

Pam is survived by her children, son William “Bill” (April) Miller, Etna Green,IN; daughter Sara Ramirez-Lopez and Jose Gomez, Logansport; and son Ben Colsten, Toledo, OH; as well as siblings Jim (Liz) Adkins, Myrtle Beach, NC; Beth Lee, Logansport; Mark (Amy) Adkins, Bloomington; Tamara Carter, Alexandria, VA; Teal Kraai, Savannah, GA; mother Tamar Paulido; and Step-Mother Marilyn Sue Adkins.  Also surviving are Pam’s grandchildren: Alexya Miller, Manuel Ramirez-Lopez, Marcos Ramirez-Gaspar, Angel Ramirez-Lopez, Andres Ramirez-Lopez, Walker Miller, Julien Miller, and Declan Miller; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pam was preceded in death by her father, Rex Adkins, and one brother, Rodney T. Paulido.

A memorial service for Pam will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Valley Fellowship Church (8892 E CR 500 S, Walton, IN), with visitation from 4-6p.m. and memorial service to immediately follow; Pastor Mike Stow officiating.
