Obituary

Roscoe “Jack” Combs, 91 of Logansport, walked into the arms of his Lord and family, Friday, June 7, 2019 in Logansport, IN.

Born on April 1, 1928 in Owensboro, Kentucky, he is the son of the late Roscoe Combs Sr. and Mollie (Dennis) Combs. On August 12, 1950 in Logansport he married Mary Joan Page who preceded in death on May 6, 2014.

In 1940, Henry Ford put on a national marble championship held in Detroit, Michigan in which Jack participated and placed in the top 10 of the Nation. After the competition Mr. Ford gave Jack a shiny new dime and a ribbon for his accomplishments.

While serving in the Army Air Corp, in the occupation forces, in the Pacific theater, after many failed attempts by others, he was given the task of repairing the generator that powered the base, which he completed successfully. This was instrumental in jumpstarting Jack’s keen autodidactic gifts and career.

Jack retired from Sigman’s Allis Chalmers and also worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and auto machine shop specialist.

Jack enjoyed rebuilding Vincent Motorcycles and Mercedes Benz. He liked to watch car racing and documentaries, also catching snapping turtles and mushroom hunting. He loved his dogs, Dolly and Shaggy. Jack would always look forward to eating tomatoes from his garden.

Surviving Jack is a son, John (Lana) Combs of Logansport, IN; daughter, Joyce Combs of Logansport, IN; three granddaughters, Jennaca E. (Nick Keeler) Combs of Galveston, IN, Janell M.
