Services for Alfred E. Foster, 78, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 2:33 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, in IU Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Born May 1, 1928, in Logansport, he was the son of Verna and Loretta Welch Foster. He was married April 16, 1955, in Delphi, to Edna G. Oliver, who survives. They have been together for over 50 years.
Mr. Foster was owner and operator of Foster Amusement Company since 1956 and former part-owner of Moore Bay Lodge Fishing Camp in Kenora, Ontario, Canada.
Al was a 1949 graduate of Logansport High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Panama.
A former bricklayer, he was a 50-year member of the Bricklayers Union. He also was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790, and a member of the Logansport, Monticello and Delphi American Legions, AMVETS of Monticello, William Paca Lodge, Tipton Masonic Lodge 33, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, Logansport Shrine Club, and Lafayette 40 & 8.
Al was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildrenâs sporting events.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Deb Foster, Peachtree City, Ga., and Terry and Dirinda Foster, Logansport; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Bruce Burns, Indianapolis; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Joan Foster, Logansport, and Bud and Betty Foster, Lake Placid, Fla.; grandchildren, Chase and Cameron Foster, both of Logansport, Matthew and Meghann Burns, both of Indianapolis, and Kevin Foster and Kari Munoz and her husband, Chad, all of Peachtree City, Ga.; and a great-grandchild, Cassidy Foster.
Two brothers, Floyd Foster and Robert Foster, and two sisters, Anne Thomas and Florence Adair, preceded in death.
Father Christopher Weldon will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where an Elks service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Masonic services also will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, followed by a Shrine processional. A celebration of life reception will be held following the services Monday at the Logansport Shrine Club.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Childrenâs Hospitals.
