Billy Burt Buzbee, 88, Logansport, IN passed away on Thursday August 14, 2025, at 1:30 pm, peacefully at home after a brief battle with cancer. Billy was born April 29, 1937. He was the son of Melvin Lowell Buzbee and Francis Louise (Boldry) Buzbee. Billy Graduated from Royal Center High School in 1955. Billy Married Louisa Mae (Dibble) Buzbee on July 22, 1956, at the Church of the Brethren in Logansport.
Billy had several occupations that he was proud of, he was the owner of Hillcrest Service Station, as well as Buzbee’s Westside Mobil. Billy was known to be a hard worker, starting at age sixteen with his first job at Nelson’s Screw Products where he was paid only a dollar an hour, he wanted to quit school to work and support his family so he worked evenings, when asked why, he stated “Because my mom works, and I am going to help her”.
Billy retired at the age of 69 after 23 years at the Logansport State Hospital.
Billy was the Noble Township Trustee for 28 years. After being volunteered for his first term. Billy enjoyed helping his neighbors in need and took pride in maintaining Harper Cemetery alongside his grandson, Aaron. Once a week you could find them there with a cooler of water, diet coke and a payday candy bar or two.
Billy enjoyed playing poker with his “poker buddies” many went on before him, but he never forgot them.
Billy is survived by his wife Louisa Buzbee, His daughter Janet Louise Ellison (Dennis), Son Joseph Lowell Buzbee (Sheryl), Daughter Kathryn Rani Bushaw (Jeff Sedam) all of Logansport, Grand Children Jonthan Buzbee (Angela), Mary Moore (Mike Berry) Houlton Maine, Naomi McKinley (Joe) Logansport, Joshua Buzbee Sparta Wisconsin, Jerrad Buzbee (Isbel) Logansport, Jordan Buzbee (Savanna) Chattanooga Tennessee, Aaron Bushaw, Haley Bushaw (Talon Smith) Logansport, Hannah Miller (Tim) Mishawaka, Christopher Cicchelli (Sierra) Schoolcraft Michigan, and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Sister Melba Kathryn (Buzbee) Samuels, Son David William Buzbee, Daughter in Law Billie Jo Buzbee and grandson Shelton Carpenter.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am Monday August 18, 2025, with visitation an hour prior in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Joshua Buzbee officiating. A burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 1 – 5 pm Sunday August 17, 2025, also in the Gundrum Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Food Pantry.
