Dorothy "Dotti" Richards

Dorothy "Dotti" Richards, 62, of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

She was born on July 30, 1963, in Logansport, Indiana the daughter of William O. Richards and Lou Ann Hudson. Dotti graduated from Logansport High School in 1981 and went on to earn her LPN from Ivy Tech in Lafayette. She later earned her RN from Bevell College in Alabama in 2002. For 42 years, she poured her heart into nursing, caring deeply for those in her charge. Her ornery sense of humor, quick wit, and knack for mischief brought laughter to everyone around her. Yet, beneath the joking and lightheartedness, Dotti carried a giving and selfless heart, always shouldering the burdens of others and doing what she could to ease their way. Dotti’s life was shaped by her faith as a devoted Seventh Day Adventist. Her trust in God was steady and true, guiding her through life’s joys and struggles.

Her time as a travel nurse gave her the chance to meet people from all walks of life, and she left an impression wherever she went. She had a great love for animals, and she never missed an opportunity to lend a hand or offer comfort.

She is survived by her siblings, Donna Sweeney (Roy), Dorine Deason (Keilan), Deborah Tatman, Carol Pearson (Dennis), Patty Hochstetler (Shane), and Kenny Clark; her step-mother, Shirley Richards; her son, Kyle Cox (Christine); her uncle, Daryl Lynch (Ann); nieces Shinae, Tabbatha, Barbara, Michell, Tiffany, Crissa, Brittany, Andrea, and Heather; and nephews Tanner, Nathan, Isaac, Michael, Jacob, and Aaron; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Dotti is preceded in death by her parents, William Richards and Lou Ann Hudson; her grandparents, John and Betty Lynch; and her aunts and uncles, Gene and May Pelter, Betty Bell, and Mike Lynch.

No services are planned at this time. The family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
