Fannie B. Irick, 88, passed away on December 5, 2025, at Altenheim Health & Living in Indianapolis.
She was born on October 12, 1937, the daughter of Nell and Ruben Scaulf. Fannie lived a life marked by resilience, dedication, and service to her country. She proudly served in the United States Air Force, a chapter she held with great honor. She later worked for Delco for many years.
Fannie loved her family deeply, especially giving them a hard time in every way she could. She adored her great-grandchildren, treasured watching hummingbirds, and took joy in feeding any animal that wandered near. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, and throughout her life she stayed strong, independent, and full of personality. She also loved her cat, Cyprus… even if no one else really did. Fannie absolutely loved her trips to Walmart, and those outings were always thorough, she never missed an aisle and knew exactly how to make the most of every visit.
Fannie is survived by her daughter, Toni L. Archer; her grandchildren, Dustin (Kayla) Thieke and Natasha (Victor Ward) Thieke; and her great-grandchildren, Jack Ward, Sofia Ward, Addilynn Thieke, Emmitt Ward, and Emery Thieke. She is also survived by her siblings, Charles “Chuck” Scaulf, Frances “Junior” Thorpe, Wayne Goldsberry, Pam Carpenter, and Audry “Sue” Titus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jim Thorpe; and her sister, Rovena Warner.
A Celebration of Life service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Gundrum Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Haill officiating. Friends and family may visit from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park.
