Jerry Joe Walker, 64, of Logansport, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2020.
He was born on April 16, 1955 in Logansport to the late William “Bill” and Mavis (Harmon) Walker. On April 12, 1975 in Logansport, he married Roberta “Bobbie” Grantham who survives.
Joe was currently employed at Myer’s Sport Bowl, having retired from the sandblast and painting business after over 30 years. He assumed these new job duties “temporarily” for Bobbie, but quickly became that guy that everyone counted on for a good laugh, a hard time and maybe cinnamon breadsticks if you were lucky. Joe would never admit it, but he enjoyed interactions with the people, just as much as Bobbie enjoyed possession of the TV remote during bowling season.
Joe lived in Tennessee in his younger years and attended various schools while growing up. He studied electricity at Ivy Tech and was quite the handyman when he chose to be. Joe was known for his stubborn “my way or the highway” attitude, his quick wit, and his stellar sense of humor. He also has a huge heart and a soft spot for any stray cat in the neighborhood. Joe was extremely proud of his grandsons and would do anything for them, even driving lessons.
Along with his wife, Bobbie, he is survived by two daughters, Bobbi Jo (Joshua) Hershberger of Logansport, IN, Jennifer L. (April) Walker of Logansport, IN; son, Sonny D. Walker of Logansport, IN; two grandsons, Creedon W. Hanson of Logansport, IN, Connor G Hershberger of Logansport, IN; two brothers, Dave Walker of Logansport, IN, Matt Walker of Delphi, IN; four sisters, Gaye (Doyle) Robertson of Sheridan, IN, Kathy (Rich) Rush of Walton, IN, Connie Walker of Logansport, IN, Chris Walker of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, William Walker, mother, Mavis Walker, brother, Terry L. Walker and brother, Little Bill Walker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cass County Humane Society.
Per Joe’s request there will be no public services.
