John Martin

John G. Martin, 82, of Walton, IN passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the McKinney Place in Logansport, IN.

Born on January 14, 1940, in Logansport, John is the son to the late Jesse G. and Sarah V. (Copeland) Martin. John owned and operated, Martin Bros. Seed Company, that was founded by his father Jesse and uncle Joe in 1937.

John graduated from Washington Township High School in 1958. He was a graduate of the Purdue University Agriculture Short Course Program. John served his country in the United States Army and Indiana National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the Union Presbyterian Church where he served in many capacities. He enjoyed singing, and cherished being the worship leader, Sunday School Superintendent, and a Trustee of the Church and Ramer Cemetery. After Union Presbyterian disbanded, John found a warm reception into the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport where he enjoyed singing in the men’s choir. John enjoyed following Purdue basketball.

John is survived by a daughter, Jenny (Kevin) Eggerling of Walton, IN; two sons, Chad Martin of Flora, IN, Joe Martin of Nineveh, IN; two granddaughters, Lauryn Willison of Ft. Wayne, IN, Leah Willison of Walton, IN; two grandsons, Aaron Willison of Walton, IN, Holden Eggerling of Walton, IN; great-grandson, Payton Willison of Walton, IN; nephew, Bruce (Melissa) Boman of Kentwood, MI; great niece, Esther Boman of Kentwood, MI; great nephew, Isaac Boman of Kentwood, MI;

He was preceded in death by and infant brother, Thomas Lee Martin, infant sister, Rebecca Ann Martin, sister, Mary Lois Boman, brother-in-law, Carl Boman, nephew, Brian Boman, former wife, Deborah Beebe.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in the Ramer Cemetery near Walton.

Visitation will be held from Noon until the time of service on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport.
