LaWana M. Leslie

LaWana M. Leslie, 75, of Logansport passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, after a 19-year battle with carcinoid cancer. 
Born on August 29, 1948, in Logansport, she is the daughter of the late George R. Baker and Alice (Ginther) Baker.  LaWana had been an assistant manager for Goodwill, and also worked at Happy Burger.
LaWana was a 1966 graduate of Logansport High School.  She was an active member in the Broadway Alliance Church, she organized vacation bible schools, Sunday Schools and sang in the choir.  She also sang in the trio “The King’s Daughters”.  LaWana enjoyed reading, watching TV and was a huge Elvis fan.
Surviving LaWana, is a daughter, Chrissy (Wayne) Wescott of Logansport; her mother, Alice Baker of Logansport; two sisters, Monica Burkett of Logansport; Ann (Daryl) Lynch of Logansport; one half-sister, Lori (Brian) Fishburn of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Jessica Wescott of Logansport; several nieces and nephews.
LaWana was preceded in death by her father, and half-sister, Lisa Baker.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 12, 2023 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Aaron Gross officiating.  Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
