Services for Letha E. Martin, 74, Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at her residence.

Born March 7, 1932, in Boone County, she was the daughter of Ivan Ray and Emma Cleone Chapman Williams. She was married Jan. 3, 1954, in Thorntown, to Richard A. “Rick” Martin, who survives.

Mrs. Martin worked 10 years as a secretary for the Cass County Extension Office and retired as executive secretary at Area Five after 20 years. She was co-owner of Bridge City Hobbies.

She was a 1950 graduate of Lebanon high School and a member of the Sugar Plain Friends Church in Thorntown.

Letha was a life member, past president and secretary of Indiana State Numismatics Association, a member of the American Numismatic Association, and a recipient of the Indiana State Numismatics Founders Award in 1978, which is the highest award given by the Indiana State Numismatics Association. Letha also received the Ruth Linville Award in 1991, Special Merit Award in 1994, The American Numismatics Association Presidential Award in June 1996 and the Numismatic News Numismatic Ambassador Award in 2004. She was the first female president of Indiana Numismatics Association.

She was a founding member of the Moon Beams and Good Timers Extension Homemakers Clubs and was a life member, past president, secretary and treasurer of the Logansport Coin Club.

Also surviving are one daughter, Annette E. McGuire and her husband, John, Phoenix, Ariz.; one son-in-law, Casey S. Koons, Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Roger L. Williams and his wife, Martha, Huntsville, Ala.; one granddaughter, Samantha McGuire, Phoenix, Ariz.; and one grandson, Sean McGuire, Phoenix, Ariz.

One daughter, Dawn L. Koons; two brothers, Emory Williams and Elton Williams; and two sisters-in-law, Leah Mae Williams and Evelyn Williams, preceded in death.

The Rev. Keith Schreffler will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana State Numismatics Association Young Numismatist Award.
