Lt. Col. Raymond Charles Walter Jr., 88, of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Logansport.
Born on May 19, 1935, in Los Angeles, California, Raymond is the son of the late Raymond Charles Walter Sr. and Hazel (Nelson) Walter. On March 27, 1968, in Logansport, he married Patricia L. (Sievers) Erny, who survives.
Raymond is a United States Air Force Veteran, where he served a total of 23 years. He is also a retired teacher for the Logansport Community School Corporation.
Raymond received a BS degree in Astro Physics from UCLA and a Master’s degree from Purdue University in education. He was a member of the retired teacher’s association, William Paca Lodge, Elks Lodge #66, John Purdue Club, Purdue PMO Club, the Republican Party and was an Episcopalian.
Surviving Raymond along with his wife Patricia, are two sons, Stephen and Larry Walter; two daughters, Julie and Lisa Walter; four stepsons, Rod (Sue) Erny of Kokomo; Jeff (Connie) Erny of Galveston; Mark (Stephanie) Erny of Walton; Troy (Janet) Erny of Cape Canaveral, FL; brother-in-law, David (Mary) Sievers of Logansport; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
A celebration of life with Military Rites will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Logansport Church (2405 Shadowlawn Dr.) with Rev. Dr. Aaron Gross officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service, also in the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Logansport Church of The Brethren.
