Marilyn Jean Dora, age 92, of Logansport, Indiana, passed away on January 20, 2026.
Marilyn was born on May 30, 1933, in Fairfield, Indiana, to Armin D. Kelley and Evelyn Mae (Adams) Kelley. She was a 1951 graduate of Brookville High School and the oldest of five children.
On May 11, 1952, Marilyn married the love of her life, Harold Byron Dora. Their story began in the first grade, and they remained sweethearts throughout school, building a lifelong partnership rooted in love. Shortly after their marriage, Harold enlisted in the United States Air Force, and Marilyn proudly supported him as they became an Air Force family for 23 years, serving in numerous locations, including Guam.
During their years of service, Marilyn worked in Civil Service as an office secretary until their children were born. She then devoted herself fully to her family, affectionately referring to herself as a “domestic engineer,” raising their three sons: Jeffrey Michael Dora, Bryan Wesley Dora, and Kelly Stephen Dora.
Following Harold’s retirement from the Air Force at Grissom Air Force Base, the Doras made their home in Logansport, Indiana. Harold later worked for Sears, and Marilyn was employed for several years as an Administrative Assistant in the Regional Office of the United Methodist Church.
After Harold’s retirement from Sears, Marilyn and Harold spent 23 wonderful years wintering in Florida, where they created treasured memories golfing, traveling, cruising, and making many good friends. One highlight of Marilyn’s life was achieving a hole-in-one on the local golf course.
Marilyn was a devoted member of Cross-Wind United Methodist Church in Logansport and deeply valued time with her family and friends. After declining health, she lost the love of her life, Harold, on February 13, 2022, after nearly 70 years of marriage.
Marilyn is survived by her three sons: Jeffrey (Patty) Dora, Bryan (Marsha) Dora, and Kelly (Michele) Dora; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her siblings Sharon Bolyard, Karlene (Jerry) Cotter, and Robert (Diane) Kelley; a sister-in-law, Jean Kelley; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Her husband, Harold; her parents; and a brother, Gerald Kelley have preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Gundrum Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. A private burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cross-Wind United Methodist Church.
