Richard ‘Dick’ James Isaacs Jr.

Services for Richard “Dick” James Isaacs Jr., 69, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 12:14 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 13, 1937, in Logansport, he was the son of Richard James Sr. and Mary B. Stratton Isaacs. He was married June 8, 1986, at Faith Lutheran Church, to Dikki Shedron, who survives.

Mr. Isaacs was a retired Logansport City fireman and carpenter.

Dick was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Logansport Elks Lodge 66, Son’s of American Legion Post 60 and the William Paca Lodge. He was a charter member of the Logansport Civic Players and an avid Notre Dame football fan.

Dick enjoyed fishing for smelt, turtle hunting, going blue gill fishing with his special group of friends, mushroom hunting with his family and friends and attending his class of 1955 reunions and social along with committee gatherings. He also enjoyed vacations, dancing and spending time with his beloved wife, Dikki.

Dick had worked for Ray Hinkle Construction, Ashton DeGrief, Gary Yeakley and Partridge Floor Coverings. He was a perfectionist when it came to his carpentry work.

Also surviving are four daughters, Tina Ligon and her husband, Scott, Annapolis, Md., Sabrina Good, Logansport, Daphne Brown and her husband, Paul, Alpine, Calif., and Vanessa Isaacs, Fishers; two sons, Rick Isaacs and his wife, Janet, Houston, Texas, and Jeff Hartle and his wife, Michele, Peru; one brother, Gene Isaacs and his wife, Linda, Logansport; three sisters, Marilyn Sue Adkins, Logansport, Sharon M. Rodkey and her husband, Harry, Walton, and Karen E. Maloy and her husband, Stan, Lucerne; grandchildren, Shannon Ligon and her husband, Issa aTiati, New York City, Ryan Ligon and his wife, Jacqueline, Largo, Fla., Hanna Linback and her husband, Clint, and Abraham Ashby, all of Logansport, Cortney and Ross Isaacs, both of Houston, Texas, Jacob, Sydney and Kara Brown, all of Alpine, Calif., and Tauri and Braxton Hartle, both of Peru; great-grandchildren, Ahmad, Julien, Katrina, Tanner, Tyler and Tristian; extended family, Jan Alberico and Barney Fife, Dave Shedron and his wife, Shirley, Bon Shedron and Eve Dehaven and Skip Shedron and his wife, Diana; his special best friend, Bill Cox, Logansport; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Pastor Tom McShannock and Pastor Sandy Hutchens will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Burrows Cemetery, Burrows.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where an Elk’s memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday. The Logansport City Fire Department will provide honor guards.
