Services for Richard F. “Bud” Pitman, 84, Logansport, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born Nov. 24, 1922, in Logansport, he was the son of Francis and Emma Heronemus Pitman. He was married Sept. 19, 1947, in Logansport, to Eva M. Means, who preceded in death, Feb. 16, 2005.

Richard was a 1941 graduate of Logansport High School and was a star basketball player for the Berries. He also played softball in his younger years and proved to be a very good player. He retired from the Logansport Fire Department and also from Wilson Foods.

Richard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 3790.

Surviving are one daughter, Debby Farrer and her husband, Dick, Logansport; two sons, Bob Pitman and his wife, Judy, Columbus, and Ted Pitman and his wife, Margo, Logansport; one sister, Wanda Pitman, Logansport; and grandchildren, Emma Pitman and Cassie Pitman, both of Columbus, and Torrie Farrer and Shannon Barrett, both of Logansport.

One brother and two sisters preceded in death.

The Rev. Scott Ellison will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Four County Foundation and Trinity Lutheran Church.
