Ruth Ann (Michael, Cowell) Yantis, 79, of Logansport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
Mrs. Yantis was born July 26, 1943, to the late Robert and Helen M. (Follette) Michael. Her first husband, Don Cowell, was killed in an automobile accident. She married Ben Yantis on April 16, 1970, in Metea Baptist Church. Ben preceded her in death on March 5, 2021.
Survivors include daughters, Tina Cowles, Colorado; Colleen Yantis; Noreen (Dave) Brumett, Logansport; and son Tim (Sara) Cowell, Twelve Mile. Grandchildren include Seth, Zachary (Katie), and Tayt Cowell; Wyatt, Bryn, and Jack Brumett; Kalia Cowles; Morgan Woodruff and Alexandria Mulvaney; and one great-grandson. Grandsons Tyler Mulvaney and Toby Cowell preceded her in death. Sisters, Mary (Rex) Barrett, Betty (Bill) Friskey, Sandra (Dan) Barrett; brothers Jim (Lynn) Michael, Bill (Linda) Michael, David Michael. Two brothers, Walter Michael and Richard Michael preceded her in death.
Mrs. Yantis was a member of the Metea Baptist Church and the Tanglewood Community Church in Sebring, Florida where she and her husband spent their winter months. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1961. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in his farm equipment business. She traveled with her husband on many mission trips, encouraging women around the world to be faithful servants of Jesus. She was a state officer of the American Baptist Women, served on the local Youth Service Alliance, and served as Cass County Republican chairperson. She enjoyed her family, grandkids’ ballgames, helping with 4-H projects, quilting, and sharing time with her Florida friends and sisters.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Gundrum Funeral Home in Logansport with Pastor David Heady officiating. Burial will be at Metea Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of service on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmaus Mission Center, Kokomo Rescue Mission, Metea Baptist Church, or a ministry God leads you to contribute to.
