Helen Irene King, 94, of Rochester, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester.

Born on December 26, 1924 in Fulton County, Indiana, she is the daughter to the late George and Elma O’Dessie (Buchanan) Rentschler.  On March 18, 1945 in Fulton County, she married her husband of 69 years, Lyman A. “Bud” King who preceded in death on April 21, 2014.

Helen graduate from Fulton High School. She was a member of the Metea Baptist Church and the Community Home Extension Club. Helen helped on the family farm everyday beside her husband, she was especially proud of raising her flowers and chickens.  Helen enjoyed visiting the county fairs where her grandchildren participated in 4-H. Her favorite hobby was making her “farmer” quilts.

Surviving are three sons, Arthur King of Twelve Mile, IN, Bobby (Penny) King of South Bend, IN, Don (Ellen) King of Rochester, IN; daughter, Rosemary (Bruce) Scales of Rochester, IN; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Rentschler, Jr., mother, Elma O’Dessie Rentschler, four brothers, Byron Rentschler, Raymond Rentschler, Carl Rentschler, Joe Rentschler, grandson, Danny Joe Scales, daughter-in-law, Kathleen K. King.

Funeral services for Helen will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Foreman officiating. Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019 also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Metea Baptist Church.
