Michael Cooke

Michael Allen Cooke, age 59, of Logansport, passed on Friday May 1, 2020 in his residence.

Born December 2, 1960 in Logansport to Glen Allen and Virginia (Kuhn) Cooke.

Mike was raised Catholic, graduated from Logansport High School in 1979 where he then joined the Marine Corps.  He completed basic training in Camp Pendleton, CA.  Mike was trained as an Artillery Meteorological Man and served in Okinawa Japan and South Korea China until he was honorably discharged in 1984.  He talked about when they were camping on the DMZ in South Korea for surveying, at night the North Korean’s would sneak into their tents and try to steal their food and anything they could get.

He returned to Logansport and worked for L.D.I., Main St. Mechanical and Caterpillar.

Mike loved Indiana basketball, Notre Dame football and tolerated Purdue for his sister.  He loved the Colts and Nascar.  He also enjoyed napping to golf tournaments.   He loved his mom’s cooking and holiday meals, drinking Pepsi and he loved his daughter and grandchildren more than life itself.

Mike loved being around people and having fun.  He leaves behind a large family & friends whose lives he touched and in turn touched his.

Survivors include his daughter, Erin Michelle (Adam) Wojtysiak, Mishawaka; mother, Virginia Cooke, Logansport; two sisters, Kathy Russell and companion Jeff Emmons, Logansport; Susan Cooke, Logansport; two grandsons, Colson and Miles Wojtysiak, Mishawaka; several Aunts and Uncles and many cousins

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Glen Allen Cooke.

A private memorial service will be held for immediate family with burial to follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
