Paul Wright

A celebration of life gathering will be held on October 20, 2021 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Amelio's in Logansport.

Paul Douglas Wright (7/6/45-10/3/21), born in Terre Haute, was preceded in death by his parents, L. Paul and Velma Gloria Houts Wright, stepmother, Betty Stroup Wright, son T.D. Wright, sister Nancy S. Wright, brothers Steven W. Wright, Michael F. Wright, and James A. Wright Sr. He is survived by his adored and very loving wife, Linda, cherished son Michael (Jennifer), stepchildren Laura Fred-Smith (Scott) and James Fred, and grandchildren, Aiden Wright, Aleck Fred, Gabrielae Fred, Dakota Fred, Aeden Smith, Willow Stepanek (Kyle Sells), Damien Stepanek, Amethyst Branham (Loren Kodimer), Brandon Braly (Meagan Eliot) and great-grandchildren Elijah Braly and Lydia Braly. He is also survived by his dearest sister, Gloria Hamilton (Susan Britt), and siblings Camille Wright Miller, Robert A. Wright, Betty L. Nicoson (Don), and N. Thomas Wright (Kim), as well as many loved nieces and nephews—especially Andy Austin and Suzi Austin.

Paul attended Indiana University, served as an officer in the Vietnam war, graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, furthered his studies toward a doctorate at Southern Mississippi University, and went on to a successful career in psychology and served as service line manager on the Jayne English Unit at the Logansport State Hospital. Paul’s love of music was deep and broad and he delighted in introducing family and friends to different recording artists and they, in turn, delighted in the discoveries. His heart was held captive by New Orleans—the food, the music, and the people. Paul was a people person—he never met anyone he didn’t find fascinating. During the Vietnam war, his father often remarked that if the military would just turn Paul loose, he’d find a way to bring north Vietnam to a conversation with south Vietnam and resolve the conflict. His casual conversations led him to meet members of the Allman Brothers band—among many other notable individuals. Life, for Paul, was “Laissez les bon temps rouler.”
